My Solar Panels went up this week (11/15/07), but my infatuation with Solar Power started over a year ago.
I've always wanted Solar Power on my home.
Maybe it has something to do with Technology coming to the aid of Technology...
Much of what I have associated myself with over the past 20 years of my career has generated a lot of green house gases (working at Apple helping popularize personal computers, working on computers, running computers at home, even installing entire data centers full of computers).
Somehow installing Solar Panels at my home (or even better, coordinating a program at eBay where many people are incented to install Solar at their own homes) pays penance for all those green house gases I feel responsible for having created in my career.
I knew it was destined to be when a year ago, while swimming laps and musing how I can get Solar installed on my home, I saw a small blue circle at the bottom of the pool.
I dove down to see what it was and it was one of those arm bracelets you see so many of these days.
Only this one had the inscription "Never, ever give up" and next to that it had an image of the Sun and a Home.
One year later, I have Solar on my Home!
Coincidence? I think not.
Perseverance, yes.
So now, every day the sun is shining (which is a lot in California) I know that I'm turning some of that into clean renewable energy at my home.
You can too!
Contact me if you have any questions about getting Solar installed on your own home!

You should talk to my hubby--he wants them so bad, but he can't get over the costs!
